There are stones that hold darkness and make it beautiful. This is one of them. Whiskey Creek jasper in its deepest expression near black, lustrous, the color of still water at midnight crossed by a network of gold veining that moves across the surface like fault lines mapped from above, like cracks in old lacquer, like something that broke and healed in a color no one expected. The stone is 2⅛” tall and 1⅜” wide, large enough to command a room, set in an oxidized teardrop bezel with a segmented border and granulation ball accents. The back plate is an open teardrop frame, hand-stamped with the artist’s maker’s mark. Pendant only, no chain. This is not subtle jewelry. It is jewelry for someone who understands that darkness, done right, is its own.
