There are stones that hold light and stones that hold fire. Whiskey Creek jasper holds both. This elongated oval is 2⅛” tall and ¾” wide, its surface a deep amber and golden brown that shifts toward smoke and shadow at the edges the color of good whiskey held to candlelight, of pine resin, of old wood in a room where the fire has been going for hours. Dark inclusions move through the stone like smoke through glass, deliberate and unhurried. Set in an oxidized sterling silver bezel with a segmented border and a single granulation ball at the apex, the back plate an open oval frame hand-stamped with the artist’s maker’s mark. Pendant only, no chain. Warm enough to wear in winter. Too good to put away in spring.
