 There is a particular quality of light in the high desert of eastern Oregon warm, flat, honest that makes the rimrock glow like fired clay in the afternoon. Owyhee jasper carries that light inside it. This freeform teardrop stone is 1⅝” tall and 1⅛” wide, its surface a warm taupe and golden ochre crossed by a bold sweeping band that moves through the stone like a mesa edge seen from below deliberate, geological, unrepeatable. Set in a hammered sterling silver bezel with an open teardrop frame surround that extends below the stone, oxidized and finished by hand, the back plate stamped with the artist’s maker’s mark. Pendant only, no chain. This is high desert jewelry built for open country, made to last.
