There are places in the American West where the canyon walls go so dark they seem to absorb light rather than reflect it where the rock is ancient and the silence is complete and everything unnecessary falls away. This bolo carries that feeling in its stone.
The slide is a teardrop of metallic Moroccan plume agate measuring 2¼” x 1¾” deep charcoal and black ground with warm golden-brown plume formations moving through it like smoke frozen in time, like something that happened millions of years ago and left its mark in the silica before the world hardened around it. The metallic quality of the stone gives it a particular depth light entering the surface and finding layers beneath, a darkness that is not flat but dimensional. No two looks at this stone are quite the same.
The setting is .925 sterling silver with a multi-wire twisted bezel surround a handmade construction that frames the stone with the quiet complexity of Southwest silverwork at its most considered. The black braided cord runs through the slide in the classic bolo tradition, adjustable and easy, finished with sterling silver tips. It wears with a western suit and with a plain white shirt equally well. It is the kind of piece that does not need an occasion it creates one.
