THIS LISTING IS ONLY FOR A PAIR OF EARRINGS!

Triangle -  ⅞” x 1”

There is a blue that belongs entirely to chalcedony not the saturated depth of turquoise, not the flash of labradorite, but something quieter and more luminous, a soft sky blue with a translucent quality that seems lit from within rather than from without. These earrings hold that blue completely. Two perfectly matched blue chalcedony triangles, each measuring ⅞” x 1”, clean and glassy across their entire surface no matrix, no inclusion, just open translucent blue that shifts from soft aqua to clear sky depending on the light and the angle.

The setting is classic and considered. A hand-twisted rope border runs the full perimeter of each triangular bezel in oxidized .925 sterling silver a detail that grounds the modern triangular form in the Southwest silverwork tradition without competing with the stone’s quiet luminosity. Sterling shepherd hooks complete the earrings with easy natural movement. At 1” these wear with effortless versatility the blue that works with everything, in a form that earns a second look every time.

  • Blue chalcedony is a microcrystalline variety of quartz the same silica family that includes jasper, agate, and flint distinguished by its soft, translucent blue color and exceptionally smooth texture. The blue color comes from the scattering of light through the fine-grained silica structure of the stone, a phenomenon similar to the way the atmosphere scatters light to produce the color of the sky. The finest blue chalcedony comes from Turkey, Namibia, and the American Southwest, where it forms in volcanic and sedimentary environments as silica-rich groundwater slowly deposits layer after layer of microcrystalline quartz in existing cavities and fractures.

Chalcedony has been prized as an ornamental and protective stone since antiquity carved into seals and amulets by the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Mesopotamians, traded across the ancient world for its color and workability. It is a semi-precious gemstone of timeless appeal  soft enough in color to pair with virtually any palette, translucent enough to carry light in a way that opaque stones cannot, and polished to a smoothness that rewards both the eye and the touch.
